A new home for Birmingham's much-loved Raging Bull will be announced 'in the next few weeks', according to Commonwealth Games organisers. The opening ceremony showpiece amazed millions around the world when it was rolled out at Alexander Stadium last summer.

It later became a huge tourist attraction in Centenary Square, where it stood proudly for eight weeks, before being moved to a Ladywood car park. The incredible 30ft structure was last seen dismantled, with its parts sprawled across a warehouse floor, ahead of a promised return to a high-profile city site.

Artem, the company which designed the bull, said the structure needed strengthening, but would eventually be viewed by 'many more people in the years to come'. Since then, Artem has remained tight-lipped on the Raging Bull's future location.

Birmingham 2022 chief executive Ian Reid told insidethegames last month that the vast majority of his emails were from people asking 'where is the bull?'. He added that, as the bull wasn't made to withstand adverse weather conditions, it would need to be made "safe" for the "public to engage with".

It took the team at Artem five months to build the Raging Bull. The 2.5 tonne structure was made with aluminium tubing, foam and plastic.

A spokeswoman for Commonwealth Games 2022 told BirminghamLive today that an announcement over the bull's future will be made in the "next few weeks".

She said: "We are expecting there to be an announcement on a new home for the bull in the next few weeks."
